Our Programs
Every Day Feels Like Discovery
Our School Year
Our Waldorf-inspired programs honor the magic of early childhood, giving children space to imagine, create, and grow. From September through May, Songbirds Preschool offers four-hour, tuition-based childcare programs that proudly embrace the principles of Waldorf education. Our programs take a truly holistic approach, recognizing that a child’s growth and development encompass far more than just academic learning.

Programs run Monday through Friday. The afternoon program is a four-hour program from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are restricted to a four-hour maximum per day. If families would like a full day option, we partner with Fremont Community School Orchard, who are able to offer a Morning program from 9am-1pm. Separate registration is required for each school.
Our Summer Program is also a great way for our incoming 2.5-year-old students to “test the waters” and get used to preschool, transitioning from home, nanny, or other child care into their new school for the fall.

Curriculum that Nurtures the Whole Child
Our belief in supporting a child’s social, emotional, and physical development alongside their cognitive abilities is at the core of our teaching approach. We understand that each child is a unique individual, and our curriculum is designed to honor and support their individuality, fostering a love of learning that extends far beyond mere academic achievement.
At Songbirds Preschool, we cultivate a vibrant daily rhythm that nurtures children’s social, academic, and physical growth. Through arts, crafts, stories, rhymes, and engaging movement games, our students develop strong academic skills while enjoying enriching experiences.
The Outdoors: By exploring the natural world, children learn how to engage their peers and develop healthy social skills while growing their appreciation for and knowledge about nature.
Math: Mathematic concepts come alive through purposeful and enjoyable activities like baking, folding, sorting, and counting games.
Circle Time Fun: During circle time, our teachers inspire active learning through heartfelt stories and songs, allowing each child to tap into their imagination. By the end of the year, our students are well-versed in dozens of songs, rhymes, and finger plays!.
Our environment is carefully curated to inspire creativity and exploration, inviting children to immerse themselves in stories, music, and art.
Growing Connections Beyond the Schoolyard
We emphasize the importance of building a strong community – both in and outside of our classroom and schoolyard. Children and their families regularly participate in various neighborhood activities such as the fall Lantern Walk at Gasworks Park, the annual Wallingford summer parade, and other annual events that cherish the magic of every season and celebrate the wonders of nature together.
At the end of every school year, the entire class and their families come together for our Jump the Log ceremony, which celebrates our children who are transitioning to kindergarten. This special occasion marks a significant milestone in their journey, and provides an opportunity to honor their growth and accomplishments with heartfelt admiration and love.
By extending our curriculum beyond our walls, we create meaningful opportunities for families to connect, support one another, and build strong, lasting relationships.
